Brief

The project consists of a 5-year increase in the water conservation pool elevation of the Whittier Narrows Dam for the purpose of increased water conservation operations downstream by the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works (LACDPW). The US Army Corps of Engineers, Los Angeles District is the lead agency for the NEPA document and the Water Replenishment District of Southern California is serving as the lead agency for the CEQA document, with Los Angeles County Department of Public Works as a responsible agency.

The increase in the water conservation pool elevation would be a temporary deviation from normal operations as outlined in the Whittier Narrows Dam Water Control Plan. RVA prepared the draft Deviation Study, ing the Initial Study/Mitigated Negative Declaration and public notices on behalf of the LACDPW, as well as the Environmental Assessment and FONSI and notices on behalf of the Corps. The Whittier Narrows Dam is one of the five federal flood control dams in the Los Angeles County Drainage Area.
